Freebie Suggestions 105 Replies
Last post by ClareJ (Site Admin)
on Friday, 22nd August 2008, 8:46pm
If you come across a freebie that is not already on here, then email the link for it to us at suggest@zfreebies.com. I try to answer all emails you send to us at this address, and if we do add it I'll credit the freebie to you. Obviously there are restrictions to the kind of freebies we can put on this site, but send us the suggestion, whatever it is, and we'll let you know if we can add it or not.

Seeing as it's so popular, thought i'd best add it in case anyone missed it on the forums. You'll see your name in lights on the home page tomorrow sarah! (well not actually in lights you understand...)

isn't liquid-lens already in z-freebies? it's the website where you go through the products and choose your samples?
Posted by jessicaace on Tuesday, 20th February 2007, 4:39pm
it was mentioned on the forums, but don't think we had added it as a freebie until today.
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Tuesday, 20th February 2007, 4:47pm
was it? I never noticed...must have gotten it from another site before it went on this one..I'll be sure to refer any new freeb's when I see them!!

Posted by badheadache on Tuesday, 20th February 2007, 6:53pm
twinkle81 - we have had the tea towel from stuart morris on here before, but they didn't like it and made us remove it. I've seen it's been doing the rounds on other freebie sites but i'm reluctant to relist it cause they'll just get arsey again.
Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 21st February 2007, 9:25am
Yep, we're not adding the tea towel unless Stuart Morris ask us too
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 21st February 2007, 9:35am
I wonder why not if it is on all the other sites?!!
Posted by jessicaace on Wednesday, 21st February 2007, 9:43am
Well exactly. They're probably sending emails out frantically to get it removed off all the other sites. They'll have a job getting it taken of MSE, it's the 66th most visited site in the UK apparently.
Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 21st February 2007, 9:45am
we removed it ages ago though! Can't believe it's still circulating.

Stop posting freebie suggestions on here!!! Email them to the above address instead!! A lot of our members will miss out on them otherwise as not everyone uses the forums.

tut tut
Posted by Rob.. (Site Admin) on Friday, 4th May 2007, 8:11am
vicky all the freebies on the post have been for usa and australia so i think its good idea people posting thro here as we r all into reading the forums and having debates
Posted by utopia_angel on Friday, 4th May 2007, 11:06am
the Forums are for both the US and UK so it would be nice if whoever posts them on here, to say where they are from.
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Friday, 4th May 2007, 12:13pm
sorry, I thought you posted them on here
I know now for next time
Posted by twinkle2k2 on Friday, 4th May 2007, 2:44pm
please email them to Vicki and don't just post them on the forums!!!
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Tuesday, 17th July 2007, 12:01am

I find that sometimes if i post freebie sugguestion to the normal address, the freebies either don't show up or take a bit of a time to appear.
With things like free cinema previews that go so quickly
they need to be on the site straight away for people to stand any chance of getting them.
When we post on the forums, the message appears instantly
and gives people a better chance of getting them.
I also notice that Micheal has posted a message saying that she never sees her freebie sugguestion posted,a problem that i've also had..
Therefore i think we should be allowed to post on the forums aswell for these reasons.
I know there is concern that some members will miss out
but with preview tickets they will miss out anyway if they don't appear instantly on the site.
Maybe people are posting to the normal address and not seeing their suggestions appear so are posting on here
aswell.
Alot of us use the forums too so hopefully not to many people are missing out.

yeah i always check the forums as well , by the time things go on the site they are gone, i use magic freebies as well an always say on here if there something good as its normally on therte a day or too before here
Posted by xkymx on Tuesday, 17th July 2007, 6:53pm
It would be better to be able to post them to somewhere on the forums as a couple of times now I've had really good freebies but no-one on here has as by the time you get to see the emails I send, they've run out or stopped doing them due to high demand like the whiskey and liquid soap ones.

We know it's not your fault, it's just that you're all very busy and by letting us do this (even if you only allow this to a couple of users and lock the thread to others) it would allow us to help and spread some really good freebies
Posted by SinfulKim on Tuesday, 17th July 2007, 11:26pm
I agree
Posted by twinkle2k2 on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 12:07am
It's better that some people get a chance of these freebies than none at all i think.
It's amazing how fast things like cinema preview tickets go
sometimes it seems in hours.
Posted by Solitude on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 12:32am
well it depends what Vicki thinks, as she adds the freebies.
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 7:58am
actually, if it's an urgent sort of freebie, it would be best to email it to me at either help@zfreebies.com or sarah@zfreebies.com as I check my emails throughout the day.
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:02am
I check my emails once a day, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the evening, depends when I'm adding new freebies. If I'm not receiving my emails it's because they're going in the spam folder for some reason. However I've started using the mail provider my emails are sent to instead of Outlook express and so am receiving most the emails now. If I dont use the freebie suggestion you've emailed me about it's usually because we've already got it listed, or the offer's finished, but usually in this scenario I reply to the email saying so. I dont reply to the email if I'm going to use the suggestion. Although I'm starting to think I may as well not bother trying to find new freebies myself as you all post loads on the forums now. If all you wanna do is post freebies on forums there are other sites that do that.
Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:08am
exactly....
Posted by Sarah (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:11am
well said Vicki
Posted by Nicky. (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:13am
Didn't think anyone was gonna agree with me there
Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:43am
Vicki, you're doing a great job, all I was thinking when I wrote my comment was of a way to make it easier on you and to get the freebies I find that go quickly to others on here BUT, now, coming back and reading the comments below mine, I can see why it's a bad idea, there are just so many links for original source on here allready and some of those sites you mention that already do this have so many spam messages that it's really not fun to wade through them most of the time. So, I withdraw what I said above, it wouldn't be better, it'd be a lot worse

I love Zfreebies the way it is, it's the best freebie site I use and the friendliest too, I was mistaken to think this would make it even better and I appologise
Posted by SinfulKim on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:47am
Cheers Kim! I dont mind the odd freebie being posted on the forums, especially if it's likely to have finished by the time it can be added onto the homepage (plus I know I cant find every freebie out there on the web myself!), but a lot of the ones being posted are on the site already, and people dont search the freebies first to check.
Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 8:51am
Also bear in mind that only a relatively small amount of people use the forums.
Out of 40,519 members, only 571 of them have posted on the forums.
Whilst 571 people is a good number, it's not anywhere near the number of people that look at the front page / browse the rest of the site.

So to let most people see the freebie, the best way is email it to Vicki, who will then evaluate it and add it to the list of freebies so everyone can see it

Keep up the good work Vicki!
and keep sending in the suggestions everyone

Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 9:06am
what does articulated mean?? lol
Posted by **kimbob-typical blonde** on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 9:09am
the opposite of 'blonde' kim
Posted by Nicky. (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 9:16am
Vicki I agreed with you because it feels like people are trying to take over your job!
We should all do our best to find freebies & get them on the main page
Posted by Nicky. (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 9:17am
I love Kims blondeness! Mind you i did think Vicki was saying Jimmy was an articulated lorry of some kind lol!
Just a suggestion from me, could we maybe have a thread for freebies that are likely to run out that day, such as cinema tickets? I mean, you'd have to be roadrunner to actually get these listed before they run out. The thread would only be used for cinema tickets or things that are announced that day as a 'one off special' or something.
Freebies like original source and most the purfume/aftershave samples seem to last forever so would just be emailed to Vicki, theres no need for them on the forums.
BTW, i think Vicki (and the rest of the top lot, lol) do a great job. I think people forget they also have kids and jobs so do have 'lives' other than running about after us lot.
And, please can we ban mentioning other freebie sites? Ive checked alot of the ones mentioned out and this is easily the best. Seems to be the only one where theres a chat room and the admins are actually people and not just a name!
Over and Out!

*high 5* to Clare!!
Posted by helfox on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 10:49am
Nicky,i have to disagree with your comment about people trying to do Vickis job.
We are all on the same team here and it's just that some freebies go really quickly and need to go on the site instantly.
I can't see why those freebies can not be posted on the forum
I'm afraid some of the comments seem to be sugguesting
that those of us that point this out and want to post on the forum do not appreciate the hard work that Vicki is doing.
I'm sure everyone on here more than appreciates all the work that Vicki is doing.
Clarej sugguestions of having a thread just for freebies like cinema tickets that are likely to run out very quickly sounds
like a good way forward.
I certainly don't agree with the sugguestion of banning people mentioning other sites.
I for one do not know like you do Clarej about all the other
sites so it's very helpful to hear people mentioning them.
Apart from that as a general rule banning people from freely discussing things makes me very uncomfotable.
There are some threads on the forum that i'm not interested in at all but that's my opinion and as others seem to enjoy them i think that's fine.
I certainly wouldn't sugguest banning them.
I just think we need to be very careful when we start using terms like banning.
Posted by Solitude on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 11:17am
i was joking
Posted by ClareJ (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 11:19am

Posted by Nicky. (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 11:21am

Good to hear Clarej i was worried there for a second.
I don't think we're being too serious Nicky,no we're just having a friendly natter about things.

*breathes a sigh of relief*

I've got loads of fab freebies lined up for you all tomorrow, hope you enjoy!!

I'm gonna change the way I search for freebies from now on, so will hopefully get them on here a bit sooner than I have been. I'm not gonna divulge my sources though, he he. If you guys wanna discuss other sites similar to this then I dont think we should ban it cause I agree with Solitude on that - freedom of speech, etc - but I think it would be wrong to actively promote them, they are the competition after all!
Posted by Vicki (Site Admin) on Wednesday, 18th July 2007, 10:19pm

Did we have you worried there for a second Vicki?
but we're a nice bunch really Vic .
I'm glad you agree with me about the freedom of speech bit,but your absolutely right Vicki it's one things mentioning
other sites but another to actively promote it.
As it's the competition that wouldn't be right.
Having said that i think everyone here is great and i don't think they do or would do that, cos we all love the site and you are of course are leader Vicki ( long may you reign)
