How many of you save money on your ebay sales? I recycle ALL my boxes, bubble wrap, jiffy bags, and packing nuts, even large envelopes! People dont care as long as the items arrive and are well packaged. That way you can keep your packing/posting fees a little lower, probably encouraging more sales. How about a little trick i sometimes use for increasing my ebay "traffic".I offer a free gift with most sales say FREE CHOCOLATES (put a couple of quality street in the package!) Alternatively i put one of those dvds/cds you get free in the papers, this does increase sales,i promise!

I also sell used envelopes on ebay, the ebayers are all looking for ways to save money,

I also recycle all my packaging but you gotta be careful, some people can be funny about paying 'postage & packing' when it hasn't really cost you much!!

true, i was really annoyed when i paid 6 quid postage on something that cost 2 pound and was wrapped in a used bag!! i know i should have done better research but...

I was,nt implying you should exploit postage fees, just if you have a mint condition jiffy bag, box, bubble wrap add 50p/£1 on,as its your tape, printing ink, labels, paper, plus storage space for packaging materials, etc and time involved, also queues in the post office all add up! Time is money! Packaging does cost money, especially where fragile items, glassware etc, who,s to know bubble wrap has been recycled?
Remember this line,Good packaging is not cheap, and cheap packaging is not good!

if im selling something small,i just keep the jiffys all my freebies come in and use them

Davidadan i totally agree with you. Its just the mega amounts some charge to get of their bums and go to the post office i object to. 50p/ 1 pound is great and recycling is allways good. In my example i bought a ruck sack, expected it boxed at that price not wrapped only in a littlewoods bag! covered with cellotape where it had been ripped open.

I was charged 4.00 postage for something that was wrapped in a bin liner and postal was only 2.00.

I always recycle bubble wrap and envelopes.

i use ebay a lot to sell my old clothes. I recently sold 5 denim skirts which believe it or not cost 4.60 to send in a bin liner. royal mail is ver expensive but i guess they knew they would make money when ebay took off.

you can get loads of bubble wrap from supermarkets, I get

mine from tesco, the fruit boxes are lined with it, you will find

sheets of bubble wrap in the bottom of the boxes or in their

waste crate that is usually parked nearby,

oh i go n ask my mums mates in tescos n they give me some bubble wrap n boxes when i go in there for free as they say they only trash it in there skip anyway. always best to go n ask first thing though as they dont like it when its buisy with kids etc.

help i sold something on ebay the other day they aint paid yet what do i do it was sunday when the bid ended
Posted by bunny76 on Wednesday, 4th June 2008, 7:44pm
well unless you specified when you expect payment i think they get 7 days to cough up.After this time you have to file a non payment report to ebay (its in the drop down box on your page next to the item.I would advise you message them a couple of times at least, kindly reminding them of their obligation to their bid!
Once they have paid and left you feedback,i would comment on the delay for payment, though not in a nasty way.
Heres a link from ebay, hope it helps, though they may just be busy/forgot!
I always insist on payment within 48 hours, most oblige! http://www.zfreebies.co.uk/gfx/smileys/yel02.png

You are lucky then Davidadan if people do oblige because no matter what you state an ebay bidder doe's not have to cough up the cash no earlier than 7 days.

So don't panic yet bunny79 just do what Davidadan says and send them a polite email Reminding them they have an outstanding payment or asking them is there a problem why they haven't paid yet. Rather than that you could send them another invoice in the hope to jog their memory.

People should,nt bid if they can,t pay promptly...... its unfair on those who can.You can,t buy a lottery ticket and pay the next week! Oh by the way i,ve had 698 sales in 24 months and mostly been paid instantly! That just sums up the state of the nation......... buy now pay later!
Posted by scoobydooby on Thursday, 5th June 2008, 7:06pm
you have to make it very clear to the people of our payment wishes etc and clearly state that non payments etc will be reported. i do this and i dont have any trouble at all. If it does have a slight delay you just send them a polite reminder for there payment and then they should pay up ( usually with a appolodgy). as you cannot threaten any body on your listing nows with negative feed back etc.if that fails then you can go through ebay on non payment and that usually gets a responce from them.
