Louis will be 1 in may and we don't know what to get him. He got sooooo many toys for xmas and his auntie is buying him a swing, and we don't want to put money in his account. I'm maybe thinking of one of those trikes with a parent handle, but i'm not sure. Any ideas appreciated. Thank you

as for the birthday present, if you have a garden id go for one of the small plastic chunky climbing frames, tyler loved his, it was also weather proof

have a good look when buying your trike as some on them are really hard to steer, and the handles arent that high up for the men to push,we got a brill one by berchet(bit dearer luckily we brought it 2nd hand in brill condition from friend) you can lock the steering when pushing so you arein charge where it goes(just a dial that twist so you can let them steer when older, theres also a button so they pedal to move it or to just let the pedals free wheel, rucksack on backdead handy for nappies, food, shopping, the handle comes completley off so can be used as trike on own when older

cont from above-i think theres about 3 height positions for the handle-one large curved handlebar-like on pushchairs so easy to hold/steer/push-only drawback i found (my own fault) i used to fill the rucksack(older kids stuff on school run,shopping-up and down local coop) ok when child on trike but to top heavy when taking them off so could tip-would advise to buy pushchair weights as kids loved this trike ,i used to take it everywhere,i used to shove rucksack in washer and its still ok also bodged up an old pushchair raincover on it as couldnt get kids off it

cont from above (last one promise)dearer but worth it -i brought it 2nd hand(3years old) i have now had it 4 years ive just put it in loft still going strong,i used to put handle down and chuck it in the boot and take it out when we went the parks and use it as well ,used it anywhere and everywhere ,just hosed it down and washed rucksack

we got our daughter a push a long shape sorter, shes 21/2 now and still uses it as it converted to a car. Really helped with her walking as well.

for my sons first birthday we got him, a mini paddling pooll that he use for swimming or fillin up with sand,,,n a winni the pooh ride thing with lots of noise things to press n touch and had a helmet aswell,, soi he could either ride it or walk with it thanks to the bit at the back,,, also got a big goldenretriever sit on or walk with thing from our local buggy store.
id say go through toys r us or babies r us web site n see if you can get any insperation or ieeas from there,,, clothes r always a nice thing to recieve or if you have the start up trust fund from the government that went out last year you can top that up/

my little girl is going to be 1 on the 22nd,we are going to get her some toys for the bath, she loves the bath.and a extension
to her fisher price zoo animal train
Posted by bretty_78 on Wednesday, 7th March 2007, 9:39pm
Louis has the train too, it's great isn't it. We've decided on getting a trike now with a parent handle as it will be great for little walks and strolls in the park.
Thanks to all for your suggestions.

We haven't got a huge garden, so my mother in law is letting us have a garden party round there. Louis' b'day is 24th may, and weather permitting we'll have a bouncy castle as he has loads of cousins. Won't be too many people, just close friends and family. Can't wait though.

A trampoline with a handle went down well with mine. I think that its usually best to not go too over board on 1st b'day as it can be overwhelming for little people! Also they wont remember it! Other half says you could get em an armadillo an they still wont rememberit!!

Hello, I went to my local bookshop and got a signed Mick Inkpen book for my niece for her present. But any decent childrens books always go down well I find. Good luck.

argos have a trike which you actually control the steering, it has a sun visor on the top, foot rest as they cant reach the foot pedals at that age, ths seat has a seat belt and a plastic casing around them so really safe, which all comes off for when they are older, my daughter loves it, on offer at
Posted by bella1980 on Tuesday, 10th April 2007, 9:51pm
We've bought him the smart trike from asda when it was on sale, Bargain!

Posted by nanny on Monday, 9th July 2007, 10:41pm
sorry late may use the idea for xmas
Posted by nanny on Monday, 9th July 2007, 10:47pm
my daughter 1 september i think im going to get her pram n dolly lmao
Posted by louise22 on Tuesday, 10th July 2007, 8:41am
dont buy the trikes which doesnt have parent steering, as the kids move the handles all the time and you end up all over the place with them,
i bought the one from argos, its in different multi colours or a pink one, has a sun protecter on the top which comes off.
has straps to fasten them in, got a bag on handle, so i take my little girl on it when just nipping to the shops for milk and bread and the trike even has a bit in the back to put my shopping in, its ace and it keeps my daughter soo happy.
Posted by bella1980 on Wednesday, 22nd August 2007, 9:47pm
