We made a big thing of it with Alexis, we told her she was going in to the big bed and it would be fun, we did buy a guard rail for it, which was a good job we did, she seems to sleeps right at the edge of the bed! Make a big deal out of it, a sort of adventure. hope that helps a bit

I think chaz was 2 1/2 and luke was 3, but cot sides went around 2 1/2 again. Had a week of getting up cause she could, ending up with me shouting BED and her crying herself to sleep. But it wasnt too bad. Im sure i felt worse than her.

My 1 year old is in a bed now as he kept throwing himself on the floor!! I have put a stair gate on the bedroom door to keep them in their room. I did have a guard rail on his bed but he kept pulling it off in the night!! What can I say hes a strong boy!! Its now under his bed but I have a duvet on the floor so he shouldnt hurt himself too much if he falls out of bed. He has had big bed for five months now and hasnt fallen out so far but his older sis does!

My little boy Will went into a bed at 20 months because he kept waking in the night and wanting to get out of his cot. He needed a bed guard for a few months as he kept falling out (never woke him up though!). I must be lucky because he has never got out of bed once I have put him into it and he is 25 months old now. I think a constant bedtime routine is what works for him but each child is different.

My youngest granddaughter went into a bed at 11 months cause she broke her cot by trying to climb out & shaking and banging it against the wall. She is 2 now & doesn't get out of bed too often. My son has put a stair gate on to stop her falling down the stairs if she gets up half a sleep in the night.
Just see how it goes as all kids are different.

I put both my children into a bed just after there 2nd birthday, they were so excited and felt so grown up that I didn,t have any problems.
I did use a bed guard for my first, but took it off after 2 months,i didn,t bother for my second child,if its a low bed just put cushions on the floor, but saying that neither of them fell out.Its helps if the bed is pushed against the wall.
Like every stage of there development some things are easy and others hard
