hears the thing i have sold 3 items so far, all were paid threw paypal and i got the money ok but 1 of the payments was a credit card so i had to pay charges and 20p plus the % is quite a bit when your only sellin thing for £1.50 can you choose not to be paid by credit card on paypal cant find it on the site anywear.

also i can only accept 2 credit card payments a year unless i upgrade my account but if i do that i will have to pay charges on all the payments i receive and as far as i can tell that would include the payments i get from lightspeed and pinecone so it's just not worth the upgrade.

so if i sell 1 more item and they pay by credit card i will have to stop selling on ebay or ill be out of poket what should i do

i think because your new to ebay you have limits, but go to payment options when you sell something and untick credit cards, ive give up on ebay, far too many fakes and the fees are a ripp off

ok as far as paypal goes, they charge for the use of paypal, then you get stun again by a precentage taken out of total selling fee and then your fee for listing the item is taken also, so my advice is that if you can get away with it try n do sale swith collection only if possible or cash only n use paypal wiseleyy if nothing else excepted, noncheck n money orders are a no no as they can be cancelled after item recieved n you wont get a compensation for that. better still only try n list your items on the days where the listing fee is 5p,as you saves loads there. I try n list items that are over 2 quid so i get a decent profit etc.n dont think you have to use a credit card for payments as its a option you can either use or not use. oh and dont forget paypal take a charge out of your money if you withdraw your funds from your account if its less the 50quid.

to be honest yoour better off saving up your items and doing a car boot sale, you get more money in the long run n only thing you will loose is the price of the pitch yoru using.

Vicky, Paypal has changed their fee charges and all payments received through paypal that are funded by a balance already in there,or by debit card or directly from the buyers account will not incur any fee charges to the seller but any payments via credit card do incur charges. Its worth checking which type of Paypal account you have the best one is a premier one it doesn't cost anything to change to this one.If you look through the messages on E bay you should be able to find this message - try going via the site help. You will also find other help forums there where you can ask other e bayers for assistance. The other payment method is asking for uncrossed postal orders as you can cash these straight away - crossed postal orders need to be paid into your bank. Depending on what you re selling there are other sites you can use and they don't charge you anything until its sold.I hope this helps and let me know if you need any more help.

Thanks for all the advice, carboot sails are no good as i dont have a car,

micheller, on the paypal site it says that if i upgrade to a pemier one then i will have to pay charges for all payments received so i am now confussed, at the moment i only pay charges on debit and credit card payments. the things i sell are just little hand made door hangers and i only do it for fun really, i do make about a £1 profit after charges and it mounts up if i leave it in paypal to go with the money i get for doing survays so i would like to carry on. but if i get one more credit card payment i will have to stop as i dont want to pay charges on the survay money i get,

if anyone has a premier paypal account can you let me know do you get charged on your lightspeed or pinecone money going into it?

Hi Vicky,

If you're selling hand-made things have you tried using etsy.com ? Not sure if they charge you commission or not but I have started to use it to buy things instead of eBay and find them really good. As to your other question about being charged for Pinecone, Lightspeed money going into a Premier account I'm afraid that the answer is yes but why not do as I do and have a separate (ordinary) Paypal account for them? Hope this helps.

hi vicky ... as far as i am aware you shouldn't pay charges even on a premier account when you get money for surveys, it's a transfer of money and not a purchase so there are no fees ...
